Grasmere
After your visit to Keswick it's off to Grasmere, a pretty little village just north of Grasmere lake and surrounded by fells and mountains.
The scenery is truly breathtaking, so it is hardly surprising that this is where so many painters, poets and writers have been drawn to the area of the years. Most famous of all was William Wordsworth, who described the Grasmere and nearby Rydal as "the loveliest spot that man hath ever found". In fact he loved it so much that he moved there, first to Dove Cottage and then on to
Rydal Mount. Dove Cottage is one of the top attractions in the village along with a museum dedicated to the life of Wordsworth.
If you are feeling peckish after all of that then make sure you pay a visit to the famous Grasmere Gingerbread shop. Here they sell a range of goodies including Grasmere Gingerbread, award winning rum butter, toffee, fudge and many more.
