Volks Electric Railway

Volks Electric Railway

Take a ride on Volk’s Electric Railway

First opened in August 1883, Magnus Volk’s electric railway has become a firm favourite with visitors to Brighton. running from Palace Pier to Black Rock. From it’s original pioneering design, through various extensions and revolutionary ideas it has survived and still runs from Easter through to September every 15 minutes.

When you board one of its perfectly preserved cars, you’ll be transported back to the Victorian era—a time of innovation and ingenuity. As you travel along the mile-long beachfront line, you’ll be immersed in the sights and sounds of the scenic coastline. What better way to experience the enduring spirit of the British seaside holiday?

The main station is now the Aquarium Station, located opposite the Sea Life Centre. A complete return journey will take around 30 minutes but you can of course buy tickets for just part of the journey. There's no need to book in advance just turn up and ride.

Address - Aquarium Station, 15 Madeira Drive, Brighton BN2 1EN
