Isle of Wight Steam Railway

The Isle of Wight Steam Railway is a great day out and gives you the freedom to ride the railway all day on one ticket! The railway may only cover 5 miles and 4 stations but it’s a great excursion.

Most people start their journey from Havenstreet as there is ample free parking. You then head to Smallbrook station which is where the islands two railway neworks meet up and you could alight for services to Ryde and Shanklin. The next station is in Ashey which is a request stop, an ideal place for a countryside stroll. If no one requests Ashey then it's straight through to Wootton, which has been restored as an Edwardian county terminus.

Finally it's back to Havenstreet where you can look around the Train Story musuem which covers over 150 years of railway history. There is a collection of rare rolling stock which you are able to step aboard. Kid's can play dress up as drivers and guards too!

And of course don't forget a trip to the souvenir shop before you leave, where there is a great selection of locomotive memorabilia available to buy.

Address - The Railway Station, Havenstreet PO33 4DS

Next to the Barn coffee shop at Havenstreet you will find Haven Falconry. This is a great centre with a vast collection of owls, hawks, falcons, eagles and vultures.

If you time it right you can see some of the birds as they put on free daily falconry displays in the park. Weather permitting they fly a selection of their birds at 11.40am and 1.40pm, 7 days a week. You can get up close to the birds and they can get close to you too as they fly around the field.
