Bridport and West Bay

Bridport & West Bay

Bridport and West Bay Day Trip

Bridport
Bridport is a market town in Dorset approximately 1.5 miles from the coast. Its origins are Saxon and it has a long history as a rope-making centre, though many of its buildings date from the 18th century. It's a really wonderful place to spend the day. Its streets are full of galleries, booksellers, cafes, antique shops and boutiques. On Saturdays there is a street market with stalls selling everything from local food to antique ironmongery.

In Bridport you can enjoy a variety of activities that showcase the area’s natural beauty and cultural heritage, such as:
Golden Cap: Hike to the highest point on the south coast of England for breathtaking views.
Visit the Bridport Museum or Bridport Arts Centre to learn about local history and culture.
Arts and Crafts, discover unique creations at independent galleries and boutique shops.
Palmers Brewery, take a tour of the UK’s oldest thatched brewery.
Colmer’s Hill, enjoy the view of this iconic conical hill, a well-known local landmark.

West Bay
With the simmering golden glow of the majestic sandstone cliffs and the shimmering radiance of Golden Cap, West Bay is the Golden gateway to the Jurassic Coast. West Bay nestles south of Bridport, between Eype with Seatown to the West and Freshwater with Burton Bradstock to the east.Situated at The Western End of Chesil Beach / Chesil Bank the area forms part of the Dorset Jurassic Coast World Heritage Side within Lyme Bay.

It's a must see for fans of the ITV series Broadchurch which was filmed at West Bay. Visit and see the famous cliff and ‘Broadchurch Police Station’ as well as other sites that you may recognise from the hit TV series
