No visit to Sussex is complete without a trip to Battle Abbey, built at the heart of one of the most famous battles of all time, The Battle of Hastings. You can stand on the same ground where Englands future was fought for. Explore the battlefield where just 1 day saw thousands of men fighting to change our nations future.

Walk the battlefield trail to encounter carved wooden sculptures depicting Norman and Saxon soldiers and explore the atmospheric abbey, built by William soon after the conquest. Dig deeper into the past in the interactive exhibition and head to the gatehouse roof for stunning views over the battlefield.







Now you can visit the site where King Harold died and explore the ruins of William the Conqueror’s abbey. Stroll around the recently recreated Victorian walled garden.

The old gatehouse now houses a museum where you can learn even more about the abbey and how it’s monks lived during it’s time as a monastery.
