At the Imperial Hotel we aim to offer high levels of hospitality to all our guests. We hope you will find this access information useful and that it helps to make your visit an enjoyable one.

We are aware that everyone’s needs are different, so if there is any detail you are looking for that is not covered in the information below, then please do get in touch and we will be happy to help. And of course, our friendly and experienced team will be on hand to assist you at any point during your stay with us.

Directions to the hotel

Follow the A27 to Eastbourne Rd/A2270 in Polegate. Continue on A2270. Take A2021 to Devonshire Place. Parking is at the front of the hotel, permits are available to purchase at reception for £2.20 per day.

The train and bus stations are located in the town centre next to the Beacon shopping centre. It is a level walk circa 10-15 minutes. There are also taxi ranks located conveniently by both stations.

Some general points on access

The entrance at the front of the hotel has 3 steps.
Our coffee shop bar and lounge area are all on one level and are accessible from the main entrance.
The hotel is spread over 6 floors with lift access to all floors.
The restaurant and bar are on the ground floor, our ballroom is in the basement, all accessible by the lift and stairs.
Parking is at the front of the hotel, permits are available to purchase at reception for £2.20 per day.

When you arrive at the hotel

The parking is free for blue badge holders.
Do not forget to purchase a parking permit at reception if required and display at all times.
Porters will be on hand to help with luggage for arrivals and departures, from both coach and cars.

Our reception area

The floor is carpeted and well lit.
The reception area is all on one level, with a lift opposite the reception desk.
Our staff are always available to help you with check-in.

Public areas

The coffee shop bar, lounge area, and lavatories are all on one level.
The lift serves all 6 floors including the basement where the ballroom is located.
Background music does play, albeit at a low level.
There is nightly entertainment in the ballroom which also has a bar
Most doors in these areas are on auto closures connected to the fire alarm system.

Accommodation

There are 5 rooms located on the ground floor.
We have 1 disabled bathroom but many are fitted with grab rails where possible.
There is a lift, with braille, to all floors.

Fire alarm

The fire alarm is a high pitched siren with many of the detectors having flashing lights.
Deafguards linked to the fire alarm system are available on request for those guests with impaired hearing.
Emergency evacuation plans are available in each room on the back of the door. Please ensure you make yourself familiar with these for your own safety.
For those with mobility issues please inform reception on arrival who will make a note, so we can add this to our evacuation procedure.

Additional information

All information such as menus, bedroom information and tariffs can be printed in larger fonts if so required. Service dogs are accepted at the hotel by prior arrangement. Mobility scooters can be hired from the front desk. Further specialist equipment is available e.g. raised toilet seat, just ask prior to booking or on the front desk.
