At Daish’s Hotel we aim to offer high levels of hospitality to all our guests. We hope you will find this access information useful and that it helps to make your visit an enjoyable one.

We are aware that everyone’s needs are different, so if there is any detail you are looking for that is not covered in the information below, then please do get in touch and we will be happy to help. And of course, our friendly and experienced team will be on hand to assist you at any point during your stay with us.

Directions to the hotel

By car: Follow A3055 to Shanklin.
Our car park is situated at the side of the hotel.
By rail or bus: Shanklin train station is situated at the far end of Regent Street. The hotel is approximately a 15/20 minute walk. There is a taxi rank at the train station and will take less than 5 minutes to the hotel.
The no.3 bus from Ryde and the no.2 from Newport stop just around the corner from the hotel on Victoria Avenue.

Some General Points on Access

The entrance at the front of the hotel has no steps if entered at the front right hand side. There is 1 step when entering the hotel and a lightweight portable ramp is available for those using mobility aids.
Our coffee shop, restaurant and lounge area are all on one level and are accessible from the main entrance.
The bar area is tiered, the bar is on the lower tier and the top tier provides seating and a dance floor which is accessed by 3 steps equipped with a hand rail.
The hotel is spread over two with lift access to the 1st and 2nd floors, although to access the main floors including Garden View rooms and Superior rooms there are between 2 and 10 steps.
We have a disabled wet room on site for those who are wheelchair bound. This room can be accessed through the hotel bar area for those who are able to manage the 3 steps or at the back of the hotel car park where there are no steps. To access the front of the hotel for the restaurant, coffee shop and lounge areas a lightweight portable ramp is available by the front door.

When you arrive at the hotel

There is limited parking available at the side of the hotel, so in peak times we may not be able to guarantee a parking space. Vernon Meadow car park is just across the road from the hotel and parking permits can be obtained from the local council website. This permit will allow you to park in any council car park during your stay on the island.
Porters will be on hand to help with luggage for arrivals and departures, from the coaches and cars if required.

Our Reception Area

The floor is carpeted and well lit.
The reception area is all on one level, with a lift to the left of Reception.
Our staff are always available to help you with check-in.

Public Areas

The coffee shop bar, lounge area, and lavatories are all on one level.
Background music does play in Reception, albeit at a low level.
There is nightly entertainment in the bar including a quiz and 2 games of bingo.

Accommodation

We have 72 rooms here at Daish’s Hotel. Two ground floor rooms opposite Reception, 7 rooms on the 1st floor and 6 on the 2nd floor consisting of twins, doubles and 2 singles with lift access (no stairs). All other rooms will have some steps to them.
We do not have adapted bathrooms apart from 1 wet room but many are fitted with grab rails where possible.
There is a lift, with braille, to both floors.
All rooms have telephones, these can only be used for room to room calls and to contact Reception.

Fire Alarm

The fire alarm is a high pitched siren with many of the detectors having flashing lights.
Deafguards are available on request for those guests with impaired hearing.
Emergency evacuation plans are available in each room on the back of the door. Please ensure you make yourself familiar with these for your own safety.
For those with mobility issues please inform reception on arrival who will make a note, so we can add this to our evacuation procedure.

Additional Information

All information such as menus, bedroom information and tariffs can be printed in larger fonts if so required. Service dogs are accepted at the hotel by prior arrangement. Mobility scooters and further specialist equipment can be hired from Coastal Mobility who are located in Regent Street, 01983 866341. We have 2 raised toilet seats available, please enquire at the time of booking so this can be added to your notes.
